i had a bad day.

today was pretty crappy.

nothing too tramatic...just the usual too many cooks in the kitchen/lack of direction for self-preservation run-around that comes with working for corporate america.

the worst is that i work in a highly creative field so every cook is also crazy.

i should have known it was going to be a less than stellar day when i ran into my boss in the lobby on my way in this morning. before i'd even managed a sip of coffee, he proceeded to recount his frantic morning involving him, his mistress/ex-girlfriend, a grande cappucino, and his brand-new highly expensive crushed corduroy blazer. oh. and he's decided to start carrying all his stuff in this vintage jansport backpack, giving him this creepy 'i just kidnapped a first grader' aura.
he's obsessed with the fact that jansport just did this line of vintage inspired nylon (the cruncy ripstop kind) backpacks with woven labels and tiny front pockets. they are vaguely reminiscent of the 70's i guess. but to me, vintage jansport conjures up images of clair danes as angela chase in 'my so called life'. so needless to say, i don't really get it. but apparently i'm the only one and that's a whole different blog.

anyway, to top it off i also decided to break in a new pair of shoes. two blisters and a small cut on my ankle later i was more than ready to plant my ass on the couch with some stretchy pants, some real housewives new jersey (thank you tuesdays!) and a little comfort food. for me, that comfort food means beer and breakfast....and preferably in that order.

before i could fully indulge my comfort-ridden desires, i had to first stop off at petsmart to pick up some more kitty food. and that's when i spotted 'cat in the bag'.

did i really have $10.95 to spend on a plastic 'paper bag' with a motorized ball inside? not really...but i quickly did the mental math.

'cat in a bag': $10.95
6 pack organic pale ale: $11.95
hours of frantic cat entertainment: priceless.

the beer:
the breakfast:
(an eggwhite omelet w/grilled tomatoes, green beans, and toast. doesn't look good, but it was delicious, i promise.)
ok...so nothing worthy of youtube fame occurred...and at one point i think mooch actually might've fallen asleep but it definitely picked up once the ball came out of the bag.
mooch went for the bag (which now no longer has a tail) and the skurves has been watching the ball for appx. the last hour and a half.
aside from the soft whir of a tiny motor, it's been the quietest night of my life.
